Good morning Klaus,

the better & technical correct description of the springs on modern horns is
(like said by James Maddrey)

"helical spring"

but "spiral spring" is correct as well.

Regarding "clockwork springs":

I had old , very old horns in my collection, mostly Viennese, which were
equipped with clockwork springs,
but clockwork, which can be made tighter or loser.

And I remember how cumbersome fixing or replacing a clockwork spring could be.
