Hi, horners I received a message from a horn player in France, inquiring about an F.E. Olds 5-valve single B-flat horn. It is obviously based on the design by Sansone. I don't have any direct experience with Olds horns so all I've been able to do is piece together a few facts:http://www.rjmartz.com/horns/Olds5Valve/
The owner states that there is no serial number to be found on this horn. Where would it normally be located? Unfortunately the photo of the bell label is unclear, but the owner states that it says FE Olds & Son, Fullerton, Calif. I might guess that the peculiar rectangular finger plates would help establish a date of manufacture. They don't appear in any of the photos of other Olds horns I've been able to find. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Dick Martz http://www.rjmartz.com/horns Horn Collection _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at https://pegasus.memphis.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
