Greetings to All!

Please allow me this opportunity to update you on the Northeast Horn
Festival at UNH, March 18-20, 2011.

First my thanks to all who have registered so far! I'm extending the
early registration deadline, master class and competition deadlines for another

week. If you are coming, please send in your registration and the lower
fee for the three days, $95, by March 8. Pay at the door is $110, $55 for
one day walk in.

There will be an opportunity for amateurs to play in master class for
Hermann Baumann. We will organize this upon your arrival and performers will
be selected by lottery. Same for HS and college students but they should
send in the MC request form. Those classes have been expanded time wise to
allow for more students to play.

The grand finale of the festival will be a performance of Wagner's Ride of
the Valkyries arranged by Christopher Jones for 8 solo horns and 8 part
mass choir. There will be an hour rehearsal and this will be performed last
on the Sunday concert. We did this at KBHC last summer with 20 horns and
it kicks ass!!!

On site, the accommodations page is updated with 3 hotels offering group
rates. The tentative schedule is up as well. Go to
_www.northeasthornworkshop.org_ (http://www.northeasthornworkshop.org) and
click participants to
find those links.

I am endeavoring to get us reserved parking on Friday (Sat. and Sun. is
free, no problem) and I will post that on site as soon as I have it (or not).
Whatever happens, there will be parking info on site soon.

There is a rumor, and I emphasize it is ONLY A RUMOR, that a certain expert
in the field may show up at some point (by un-popular demand) to clarify
the musical fractures that we all produce on our horns from time to time
known in our circles as CLAMS. Please, don't let this scare you away from the
festival as I have hired Wells-Fargo-Brinks-ATT-Honeywell-Secret Service
Security, Inc. to keep him holed up somewhere during that time but he has
his devious ways.

Any questions, please contact me. I hope to see you in Durham soon!

Thank you and all best wishes,

Kendall Betts
