Rachel, Rachel,

the solo in the Mahler 9 is anything else than a little solo. I had to play it
upon a last
minute call, got me a recording, driving 2 1/2 hours, listening to the symphony
twice,
play it without rehearsal (had never played it before), - and another concert
the following
day. A most awkward solo full of illogical unexpected turns.
