As soon as you have a conductor in front, the tempo is kept (more or less) by the conductor. By the progress of that number, he is getting tired & the tempo gets slower. NEVER EVER practice such afterbeats. This is nonsense. If you need to breath, never mind, breath at any place. Nobody will notice it, if you leave out one or two of the rapid eights, nobody knows that. ******** This is valuable advice from one of the most experienced horn players who ever lived.
