As far as I know, Punto had few students. Two are well known: Andreas Amon
(also composer) & J.A.Hanmüller (born 1774). We own Punto´s certificate &
recommendation for him. This document is in the State Archives here in Munich &
bears Punto´s original seal.

But regarding Tomböck:
There is a Viennese tradition of horn playing reaching back to Joseph Leitgeb
(not Ignaz, not Leutgeb), Mozarts uncle like (24 years older) close friend, a
celebrated virtuoso & special celebrated player, celebrated for his tone
quality & lyrical playing. Leitgeb was a close friend to Joseph Haydn also.
From there the line went through the Levy (Lewy) brothers, Martin von Rupp to
Josef Schantl, who brought "fresh wind" & Karl Stiegler, Gottfried von Freiberg
to Friedrich Gabler, Roland Berger & Thomas Jöbstl (now).
