While on tour, an old friend told me that the LA Phil chose Andrew Bain, principal horn in Melbourne, to fill their principal position. I had not heard that (some Googling confirmed it), so congrats to Mr. Bain! My friend also told me that Mr. Bain plays on an Alex 103, which would seem to mark a different direction for the LA horn section. Interesting news, I thought, so I figured I'd pass it on.
