Herb, you don't have to duck. At least not from me. It is obvious that Brain and many other of the greatest players cut off notes with their tongue in certain situations. Someone mentioned that I teach this, and, in fact i do, although i would appreciate it if people would do their research and understand the context before they make remarks that can be misinterpreted. If anyone would like to go further with this i would gladly explain, but cutting off notes with the tongue is a very valuable skill that needs to be taught properly, but is, in fact a perfectly acceptable and even superior way to produce certain types of staccato tonguing or I wouldn't teach it. It is in my book and on my DVDs if any of you are interested in the facts.
