I just acquired a Scherzer compensating double with a unique change valve.
(Pictures at http://www.cornetconnection.com/hns.htm) It is about the size
and length of a Schmidt valve, but it rotates. It hangs up slightly right
at the end of where the thumb key travels. Is anyone familiar with this
type of change valve and what is the best oil to use on them. If oil
doesn't help, I assume the next step is to take it out and clean it. If it
should be taken out and cleaned, is it a difficult process or should I send
it to a shop? If I need to send it to a shop, what shops do people
recommend for this type of change valve. Thanks.
