I would have guessed it to have been one of Tylsar brothers (Czechs) -
you'll often come across them playing the Rossetti double as well in Music
on Hold CDs. I work with Avaya (Lucent) switches in huge virtual networks
and you mostly only get relatively "cheap" purpose recorded discs for Music
on Hold systems as you run into huge difficulties with performing rights,
and lets face the Eastern Europeans still need hard currency. Unless you buy
into a subscription service were you're more likely to get contemporary
"hits" - very trendy for companies wanting to push a certain image. I think
Mozart is often used as it's thought to be more calming - let's face after
being placed on hold for so long an agent needs every advantage in keeping a
caller calm! There was a study by a psychologist from Wales show that Mozart
has a hugely positive effect on learning environments whether only part of
the score is played or played backwards even! Vivaldi is the worst for Music
on Hold - callers always complain as it's full of so many high partials
which sound awful down a receiver and I guess leave them feeling tense?

Regards,

Simon
