Hi everyone, I'm an amateur trumpeter hoping to become an amateur hornist, and I've just bought a horn on EBay. The problem is getting it to Australia: it's too big for USPS, and one shipping estimate (from UPS) was for US$400. Since I only paid US$600 for the horn itself (a King double, non-detachable bell), this seems a bit excessive.
Does anyone here have any tips on shipping horns? I can wait 6-8 weeks for surface mail if necessary, although it's apparently too big for USPS surface mail as well! Any tips gratefully received.
