If we read it the European way, "Si # alto" would be "Si diesis alto" or equal to "C", not "C #". "Si" is not "C".
Remember: "Do - Re - Mi - Fa - Sol - La - Si - Do" as the Italian scale. "G # alto" would consequently be "Sol # alto", but sorry, this does NOT exist, as it would be a descant part, 9 1/2 steps higher than the F-Horn part. Also, there are no parts in "C # alto", never, never, never. Haydn used "F #" for his Farewell symphony & Bizet used "F #" at the finale of "Carmen". There are also some other short passages in "F #" with Massenet. That are the facts. But why to preoccupy about "C #" or "F #" or "Si # alto" parts at all ? There is NO reason, as the musical text is "SUPER SIMPLE" anyway, reduced to SIMPLE ARPEGGIOS or TRIADES of natural harmonics as are c1 - e1 - g1 - c2 - d2 - e2 - g2. Punctum. But if the players involved just know their Bb-fingerings, they will run into BIG SHIT, but that�s their own problem because of their laziness & inadequate training. If Bb-(near exclusive) players have to read up for one sharp (#) for every note, they are in trouble. Players with a preference for the F-fingerings do not have this problem.
