His horn does not have a high F side. It is a high E-flat. The solo at the end of Movt. 1 was mostly F alto fingerings - as well as copious amounts of vibrato. I think the aspect I admire the most is that he's followed his heart. He grew up with a tradition that said "NO VIBRATO" and play on an 8D. Now, he does what suits him - and makes great music that way. Not that he didn't before - be even artists can change - grow - re-think their positions. Phil is a great example of that.
