A friend of mine recently expressed the opinion that "Wagner wrote some
wonderful tone poems which have been utterly ruined by the addition of
voices". It's a point of view I can hold some sympathy with...

:-) That could be applied even more justifiably to several other composers.
Stockhausen for instance...
