Ah! Here's a chance to put in a plug for "The Horn Call," the journal of the International Horn Society. William Melton did a seven-part series on the history of the Wagner tuba in 2003-2004. It covers all the literature up to now, as well as a lot of enlightening history of its birthing pangs and development as an instrument.
