I located the CD I mentioned onlist a day or two ago and the
compositions by Irving Schlein all featuring horn are:
Theme and Postlude from the opera "Salammbo" (horn & piano)
Trio for horn, bassoon and piano
6 short pieces for flute and horn
"In modo classico" for flute and horn
Petit suite for 2 flutes and horn
Movement for horn, oboe and string quartet
"Contrasts" for oboe, horn and string quartet
Concertino for horn and string orchestra
Horn - Igor Karzov
My take is that these pieces are all worth a look, though not major in
scope or significance. On the other hand, they fill a few repertoire
instrumentation gaps that seem to crop up fairly frequently. I
personally can't stand the sound of the flute and I think it is a
terrible combo, but if you want flute and horn, here is a fair amount of
decently written music for it.
The CD and, I believe, sheet music for these pieces can be purchased
from the composer's son, Peter, who happens to be a physicist at UCLA
and I believe played horn in his youth. He can be reached at:

Hope someone can use this,
Peter Hirsch
