So we have the F/Bb double today, where nearly everything goes well on the F-side, but having the Bb-side handy for some better in tune pitches & for emergency in the high register. You see, the invention began during Mozarts or Beethovens days.
But they had their crooks those days. ============================================================ ==================================================== -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jerry Houston Sent: Thursday, September 07, 2006 2:14 PM To: The Horn List Subject: Re: [Hornlist] Speed of crook changing? And sometimes it's a matter of simply using whatcha got. I imagine that probably held true in Mozart's time as well. In Beethoven 8, for one example, I can't change to a Bb crook for the second movement, because I don't have one. So I just continue playing on the F crook, and as I recall, there's only one note in that movement that I have to fudge a bit. Everything else lies just fine on the F crook. _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at http://music2.memphis.edu/mailman/options/horn/hans%40pizka. de _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at http://music2.memphis.edu/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
