Hi Dave,
I am waiting now for some proof myself... a reputable eyewitness. The
possible explanation to me is just cold hard cash. The emails I saw were
talking about one piece bells being bimetal and then sprayed to look like they
were all red~brass (rose brass, gold brass). Maybe there is a huge cost
difference between the two metals to make it worth while, over a thousand
horns, to make the throats out of yellow brass. This is something I can't
really comment on because I have never seen one.

As I've said in the past I just have a hard time believing this. The bell is
made into one piece (yes, it starts out as two pieces but is then brazed into
one piece), spun, bent, and is THEN cut. Why would the flare and bell tail be
different alloys? The only possible explanation would be if they 'cobbled' a
horn together from different parts. Also a bit hard to believe.

  Subject: [Hornlist] Conn Rose Brass

  Hi,
Last year there were many posts about the Conn rose Brass horns having only
the bell flair red brass and the throat being regular brass. I just heard from
a repair guy saying this isn't the case at all. Sooooo, what's the truth here??

  Was it Conn or Holton?
