AMEN - same here in Tennessee. There is a wonderful article in Music Educators Journal by Dr. John Kratus entitled "Music Education at the Tipping Point;" I highly recommend it be read by all musicians, parents, school administrators, music teachers, college teachers, etc. While I am not in total agreement with the article, I think that music in the schools - public and private - needs a massive overhaul.
