This started out as a conversation about an article which refered to among
others Phil Myers. I hope the above comment was not aimed at him or David
Jolley saying they are "complacent about missing". Neither guy wants to
miss. My problem with the article is that it sites an example of a
treacherous piece that the horns (there were more then one) had issues. It
does not talk about the 40 + other weeks of work which was flawless.

When I was in Chicago Clevenger rarely missed but when he did it was big. He
missed the first "call" in Beethoven 2 creamed it the second one in A was
not much better. He said afterwards I was more surprised that I missed then
everyone else. The reviewer for one of the 2 papers had a headline something
akin to the King has fallen. Clevenger batted close to 100% at that point in
time and it was news when he did not.
