Wow! And here all these years I have actually liked Chavez's music. How
embarrassing!

Please don't stop enjoying music just because of something that I said. I am
wrong about things all the time.
Sinfonia India is a nice piece. In 24 years in Mexico playing 36 weeks a
year, we have programmed it maybe 5 times. We performed something called
H.P. (for Horse Power, I think) a couple of times. My wife and I remember
nothing about it. There is also a Buxtehude arrangement along the lines of
the Stokowsky Bach arrangement on the movie Fantasia. I can't remember
anything else that we have done. If you have any other favorite Chavez works
I would like to hear about them.
Once again, the Silvestre Revueltas works are well worth hearing and are a
nice challenge to play. He didn't totally understand the horn, but has lots
of nice parts and solos for us. His big works are scheduled here most years,
and we recently recorded them with our previous conductor Carlos Miguel
Prieto.
