Hi Val, And what is a crooked key??? I don't think I ever ran across one of those. Is that a key that has been droped on the floor or one that has had a little to much to drink. :) Milton

To Hans I extend a UYNWARH for his less-than-helpful remarks. I've been playing horn for 3+ years and I work on transposition every single day. I've successfully performed in 8 different transposition keys (7 in the same concert), but the one I wrote about was the first that gave me the opportunity to play in a "crook" key that did not match the key of the orchestra. I am now better prepared to tackle this task when the opportunity presents in the future. I will do a little research ahead of time & find out the key of the orchestra & write in a few do's, re's, sol's, etc. in my part. Hopefully that will help me find my place in the chords. Thank you very much. Valerie Wells "The Balanced Embouchure" for French Horn ____________________________________________________________ Compete with the big boys.
