Hi, I have been interested in HOT for a few months now but was reluctant to join actively (afraid of breaking everything...). It could be a good start. Unfortunately, HOT chats happen to late for me to attend them. And I can't use JOSM during the day, only Potlatch. But if someone is ready to give me some advice, I would be happy to help.
