Yes Jaakko, very good advice. I would add that if you don't know to
download the data first then you shouldn't be using JOSM or Mercator but
stick with Potlatch2 as it automatically updates the data and is easier
to use than the other editors. I always try to return to my edits after
they've filtered through.

In any case I _always_ advice people to check the areas you have mapped
after you have uploaded (update data in JOSM, check the map a day, two
or few after to see that nothing's fucked up as per what the rendering
shows, etc).

BTW on the subject of editing grids, personally I don't always
stay in
the box, if I'm mapping a river or road then I'll follow it to it's
logical or prectical conclusion, also any polygons I will
complete even
if they take me further a field. I see no benefit in adding
incomplete
data in the db.
