For faster marking damaged and collapsed buildings (task
http://tasks.hotosm.org/job/350 ) in JOSM, I developed few tricks, which makes
the whole process faster. The only extra thing you need is to install
utilsplugins2 .

First, by pressing Ctrl+w you will make all the objects transparent. That is
necessary for viewing the current status of building.

For filters: if you don't want to be bothered by some elements (for instance
landuse=residential in the big cities), you can just add new filter and write
into input landuse=residential to hide it. By checking the second checkbox
(Hidding filter) you can even get rid off the borders of element.

But the most powerful thing about filters: if you add new filter
building=collapsed and building=damaged, you can easily see what is already
done (even when the transparency by pressing Ctrl+w is active).
If only few buildings in the area are damaged, but most of them is collapsed,
you can easily mark the damaged, then by dragging the mouse over the area
select the rest of the houses, in main menu go to Selection → Unselect nodes
(make sure no other elements such as roads are selected) and you have selected
the collapsed buildings only, which you can marked as building=collapsed in one
step.
At the very end, when you have to add typhoon:damage=yes to every single
building, you can just click onto the third checkbox (on the very right of
screen) called Inverse filter (which show nothing but what is in the filter)
and on the map are only those elements mentioned in the filter active (for
instance on filter building=collapsed only those houses). Drag over whole area
you have been edition by mouse, go to main menu → Selection → Unselect nodes
and you have only building=collapsed selected. Add typhoon:damage=yes and do
the same with building=damaged
