We saw yesterday statistics that show an increase of 59% of deaths in the last
two weeks for this Ebola outbreak resurgence.
To help the humanitarian teams operating in the Kenema District of Sierra Leone
to respond to this crisis, we received recently various imageries offered by
various Imagery providers.
Thanks to the HIU unit of the US Department of state who provided a large image
around Kenema. Thanks also to MapBox / DigitalGlobe and Airbus Space & Defense
who previously provided imagery.

The epidemic trend in Liberia and Sierra Leone remains precarious with high
numbers of new cases and deaths being reported. The current active focus of the
Ebola outbreak have been identified as Kailahun and Kenema in Sierra Leone and
Lofa and Montserrado in Liberia.
Between 6 and 8 July 2014, 44 new cases of EVD,
including 21 deaths, were reported from the three countries as follows:
Guinea, one (1) new case and two (2) deaths; Liberia, 11 new cases with four(4)
deaths; and Sierra Leone 32 new cases and 15 deaths. These numbers include
laboratory-confirmed, probable, and suspect cases and deaths of Ebola.
As of 8 July 2014, the cumulative number of cases attributed to Ebola in the
three countries stands at 888, including 539 deaths. There is 59% increase of
deaths from the report 2 weeks ago.
New imagery should be available soon to cover most of this Kenema district. We
also received a new request this morning to cover the zone south of Kenema city
up to Zimmi.
As soon new imagery is available, we will prepare new Task Manager jobs and
will contact the community. We will need again to ask for an intense
collaboration to cover the Kenema district rapidly.
