Guinea followed Liberia and Sierra Leone announced yesterday a medical state of emegency restricting people circulation and adopting various other measures.
Last weekend, at the request of people from Monrovia the capital of Liberia, we have mapped this area. There are also news reported about Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. We started a new job to map the streets and villages of this area. See http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/620 With the spread of the epidemy in both Liberia and Sierra Leone, an important task to do rapidly is to provide Place names to humanitarian organizations. For them, this is essential to localize rapidly people at risk. There are two Task Manager projects for both Liberia and Sierra Leone. We restricted these projects to experienced mappers, since this is more complex then usual Task Manager Jobs. Note that the six contibutors that proposed to help for this have access to the two jobs. To progress more rapidly with adding Place names, we ask for more experienced volunteers. If you want to edit, please send us privately you OSM user account. For this type of import where every place is compared to imagery, you dont need a specific account for imports. We will provide you detailed instructions about how to do these jobs. Note that we should pass this week the bar of 5 millions objects edited for this Ebola Activation. This is unprecedented for any HOT activation. Pierre
