Hi folks, I think that there needs to be a way to collate all the online media about HOT. Right now this is the wiki. Perhaps the videos need to be aggregated to a HOT video channel. But, perhaps the HOT Communications working group or a few keen Hotties could further drive data collection. Coordinating a video channel is easy on Youtube or Miro. It is about tagging videos and building a strong playlist. ( https://www.youtube.com/user/hotosm)
HOT has been mentioned in many Ted talks. I can point to Patrick Meier's, Erik Hersman, mine and I am sure many others. Getting a 'ted talk' is about building those relationships and applying. I strongly encourage all of you to seek your local TedX organizers. Some examples of Stellar HOT talks: Many ICCM Crisismappers talks. Last year Dale, Mikel and Kate spoke about HOT. Kate introduced Missing Maps - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMPNfFu7VuA Kate Chapman at OSCON about OAM : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxPjKPRJ81g Kate Chapman at OSCON about Jakarta Floods https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g4TGfew1Lk (OSCON is the largest OS conference with 5k people attending) One of my all time favourites: John Crowley, Schuyler Erle and Jeffrey Johnson at Where https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJvR84UX5RI Where Conf (5k views) Mikel has given countless talks too https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=mikel+maron+osm+hot Josh Campbell, Mikel, Dale, Kate and John's videos at SOTM US last year: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/State_Of_The_Map_U.S._2014/Video_recordings Hope this helps, Heather Heather Leson [email protected] Twitter: HeatherLeson Blog: textontechs.com On Fri, Feb 27, 2015 at 4:38 AM, Mhairi O'Hara <[email protected]> wrote: > I also agree in regards to doing a TED talk about HOT and MissingMaps, or > any of the ongoing projects for that matter.
