Hi Courtney,

wonderful that you can have people with local knowledge.
Other then the more vital infrastructures, they can add other objects such as
hotels, resorts, restaurants, etc. While this map is useful for emergency, it
will also be used  to support economic activities in general.
If you want to concentrate on a specific area related to this Vanuatu response,
we can prepare a Task manager job for the islands to look at, basically Port
Villa and the southern islands.

People can also simply choose an island or a part of an island. To this regard,
there are Kiribati and Tuvalu that have been affected to a lesser degree. We
did not have time yet to respond for these areas. Kiribati  is a country not
very high from the sea have been affected by the high waves.

Tuvalu http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/2177266#map=4/-11.18/-175.96

I'll let you decide, but we will be happy to support you, contributing to this
emergency response. Dont hesitate to contact me. And send us twitters about
your operation.

Objet : [HOT] Peace Corps mapping for Vanuatu

Hello HOT community,
The Peace Corps and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Washington DC will host
a Vanuatu response mapping event this coming Monday at our headquarters.
Vanuatu's current Peace Corps Volunteers will join via Google Hangout from
their evacuation point in Australia. At this point, we are planning to ask the
Vanuatu PCVs to use their local knowledge to map their host communities and
label key points such as communication towers, schools and other buildings that
can serve as shelters. Participants in the DC event will map Vanuatu and other
vulnerable islands in the South Pacific.
That said, I am writing to ask for any other suggestions that members of this
community might have regarding our geographic focus. Our Vanuatu Volunteers
have excellent local knowledge of the nation that we can leverage.
Finally, the event is open to the public, so please come if you can!
Details:
Monday, March 236-8 pmShriver Hall, Peace Corps Headquarters1111 20th St NW,
Washington DC
Please email me with your suggestions, ideas and questions.
Cheers,
Courtney Clark
