Hello –
The OpenStreetMap Institutions group is pleased to invite you to our OpenStreetMap Geography Awareness Week 2015 <http://osmgeoweek.org/> hub event, the Access for All Mapathon <https://www.eventbrite.com/e/access-for-all-osm-geoweek-2015-tickets-19153645068>, on Thursday November 19th from 6:30-9:00 PM EST both at the Peace Corps <http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/66681070> in Washington, DC and virtually. This event is hosted by the Peace Corps, State Department (MapGive and Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau), USAID (GeoCenter), American Red Cross (Missing Maps) and the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery in celebration of OSMGeoWeek and International Education Week. OSM GeoWeek 2015 calls on teachers, students, community groups, governments, private sector and map lovers around the world to come together to celebrate geography and make maps with OpenStreetMap, the free and openly editable map of the world. The purpose of this event is to actively contribute to OpenStreetMap (we'll have a training for beginners). We'll also feature keynote addresses on the importance of open geographic data from top government and institutional leaders and lightning talks from a variety of OSM community members on how OSM data is used in humanitarian and development applications. Please RSVP to attend either in-person or virtually as soon as possible here <https://accessforallmapathon.eventbrite.com/>, because space is limited. Please bring a laptop and mouse, as the focus of this event is active mapping. The Peace Corps will have a few laptops and mice available to borrow; you may reserve one by emailing Courtney Clark at [email protected]. Preference for laptops will be given to students. *Details* Date: Thursday, November 19 Time: 6:30-9:00 PM EST Location: Peace Corps Headquarters, 1111 20th St NW, Washington, DC, or virtual We hope you can join us! Please share this invitation with your colleagues and networks, and especially students.
