Hi all,

The first project in this series (I think there will be 3) is almost completed, it just needs some validation.

But we felt it would be good to get the next in the series out there to get it mapped as soon as possible.

So it is created and published here:

Damascus Area - Maarba #1672 - http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/1672

Anything you can do to help us getting it completed is eagerly awaited by the people dealing with this humanitarian crisis.

As you may know there is a fragile and imperfect ceasefire in the Syrian war at the moment so anything we can do to help people trying to alleviate the suffering of an estimated 6.5 million internally displaced persons (almost 1/3 of the total Syrian population)[1] is even more urgently needed at this time.

Regards,
Blake

Hi all,

I just posted a new project to map a small, but very dense urban area
(we have a few more in the same region coming up).

This kind of mapping is a real challenge in the city center areas and it
is slightly complicated due to the very tall nature of most of the
buildings. It gets easier as you get farther out from the city center.

If you have a fair amount of mapping experience, it would really help if
you could give it some of your time, it is really difficult to get these
projects mapped due to the precision mapping needed.

And for anyone interested, I created a short (6 min.) video explaining
how to map in this project and dense urban areas in general that just
about anyone, new and experienced mappers, might benefit from watching:
