2.0: Building the Community
This will be the first in a series of hands-on events where we will discuss,
plan, and build a
"collaborative community" website.
In this first session, we will talk briefly about exactly what "Web 2.0" is
(and isn't), and will
learn about how this paradigm shift is shaping the way we build (and users
perceive) the web (and
intranets!), including concepts like collaboration, folksonomies, wikis, social
networking, hosted
services, and partially connected apps. We'll also discuss the technologies
that are helping to
popularize these concepts, such as AJAX, Web Services, XML & RSS, and Flex.
We will break ground on the planning phase of HOUCFUG.ORG 2.0, determining
wants and needs, business
and technical requirements, and will collaboratively develop the first draft of
a functionality
diagram.
This is going to be an exciting, hands-on experience for those who choose to
get involved. Not only
will you learn where ColdFusion fits in to the "web 2.0" puzzle, you will
experience the full
process of taking a website with all the latest features from conceptualization
to production over
the course of a few meetings!
* Agenda 6:00 - Meet and Greet (general munching of food initiates here too)
* 6:15 - Seth Bienek - 2.0: Building the Community
* 7:15 - Q&A
* 7:30 - meeting adjourns and venue clears out
Click below to RSVP! It's always optional, but very helpful to us in planning.
