My understanding is some screen readers do not handle it at all.  All
discussions I have been in over 508 compliance have pretty much resulted in
cannot rely on JavaScript for anything.  Though it does seem like every
place and person has a different interpretation of 508 and some of those
being vastly different than the others.
On another note, I'd also look into the IsValid() CF function for the server
side validation.  I'd check to make sure required fields are populated and I
would also ensure they are the proper datatype for the database and also do
not exceed any size restrictions on the database side.
