Gary,

We use the Google API to determine distance (a.k.a. radius... "as the crow
flies") to find the closest location on our interactive maps. While we know
the latitude and longitude of our facilities, the geocoding feature is used to
initially determine the person's location. The specifications called for zip
code to be used for this, but it could have been all or part of an address.
Here's the link to a working sample:

I hope that this helps your buddy.

All the best,

Google also have an API that we use to generate lat/long, distance between two
points, etc.

has anyone worked with GeoCoding of addresses, cities or zip codes? We want to
add geocoding to our existing address info and be able to search for people
within x miles of a certain point. Anyone use a service to obtain geocode
info or have any other thoughts?

Thanks

Mark
