For some reason, the existing pages have Search Filters on the Left Hand Side
(LHS) and they want to keep it that way.
Otherwise I would have easily used the Accordion widget.

I am experimenting with jQuery's .toggle('slow')

At this point I just want to go ahead and make the form and then add this
eye-candy later on.
I've already spent enough time on this.

FWIW, I’ve used Bootstrap’s Collapse feature to create a “drawer” above a
datagrid that shows results, and keeps the “advanced search” fields inside that
drawer
to save space. That might be another way you can get the screen real estate
you want.

Thanks for suggesting another direction.

Maybe I'll try the column show / hide option but with animation (if I can).

Milind.

Since you’re using Bootstrap, you’re best off finding a solution that
implements Bootstrap’s styles:

Here’s a Fiddle of it in action:

And here’s the GitHub Repo for it:

Subject: [houcfug] Vertically-Sliding jQuery Panel

Hi All,

Anybody knows where can I find code for Vertically-sliding (jQuery) panel?

I would prefer Not to use plugins - if I can help it.

I would've done this using <CFLAYOUT> but it does not respect Bootstrap's span
sizes.

(Since it does not allow class attribute - only style).

What I want is a very simple panel on the left of the screen which will house a
form

with "Search Filters". Once I select my filters and hit Submit, the Right side
of the screen

will show the results (either in a simple table or a jQuery Grid).

But what I want is more real-estate on the screen. So I want to give the user
the ability to

(slide and) close/minimize the left "Search" panel.

Hopefully that will let the Right-hand-side table expand and use the newly
available space.

I was looking at the jQueryUI Accordian widget but they only talk about
Vertically-sliding

variery.

After spending 2+ hours on this, I've accepted that I Need help!

Thanks,

Milind.
