This may only be tangentially related, but I was recently reading up on source filters, which allow for some pretty ingenious uses like Smart::Comments. It's a very cool but apparently little known feature (I just found out about it a week ago when reading into the source of Smart::Comments), so if anyone has experience with it, that could make for an interesting talk.
