this is my web page, but unfortunately, it's only about release 4, not
release 5.
I have many problems with release 5:
http://www.latp.univ-mrs.fr/informatique/doku.php?id=scilab
(sorry in french, i have no time at the moment to translate it)
The main information is that scilab5 doesn't work actually on solaris
10, it works only in opensolaris (os2008.11) with very ugly hacks!

blastwave? opencsw? after the split, we users lose many things.
From a linux point of view, offers are very poor in solaris hpc software

My colleague Y. Jobic did the job:

we are in a strong wait, or we will be forced to move to linux

I also did the job for paraview:

Nobody replies to the following post:
http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/hpcdev-discuss/2008-November/000257.html

Actually, just people that are very friendly with solaris are trying to
use it in HPC. Nobody else would use it, because linux or microsoft have
better offers. But we (people using solaris) are persuaded that we are
right in using solaris in hpc dev. We hope that Sun too...

thanks for your reply,
