Hi,

I recently joined this group to try and learn as much about the DJ130
as possible, and whilst a number of questions have been answered for
me, many more have been brought up. I was hoping that if I outlined my
needs, some people may be able to advise me.

I have a range of requirements....

Cost effectiveness is very important as the market for these prints
won't tolerate costs much higher than for typical mass produced
photographic prints of equivalent size.

Resolution is very important, as the posters are collages made up of
very small images and it's possible the posters would be sold with
cheap magnifying glasses or similar to encourage people to study them
more closely.

Waterfastness would be desirable. Whilst I understand that ideally you
would need pigmented inks or some sort of coating spray, exactly how
non-waterproof is the output from the 130? I have some output from a
Canon S9000 which I understood to be broadly similar technology
(correct me if I'm wrong) and a damp finger dragged across the page
didn't seem to smudge the output at all for example. Also, what sprays
would people recommend in the UK? I found some products mentioned in
this group but they don't seem to be available over here.

Precise colour accuracy is probably something that is less important,
relatively speaking.

So, with all this in mind, it strikes me that the 130 is a very cheap
machine with high quality output, and fairly cost-effective per-print
costs, but I'm concerned that it may not be the right thing for me.

Given that I would be producing possibly hundreds of each image, I was
wondering it lithographic printing might be appropriate, but given the
resolution requirements, I wasn't sure if it would be up to the job.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me? (Sorry, I realise that's a
little off-topic for this group, but I'm hoping someone can help)

Given that I think I need to go digital, and that cost is an issue,
the 130 does seem my best option, but I'd love to hear any views from
others as to whether or not this is the case.

Many thanks in advance

Ian
