If you are just doing photo or fine art and do not need a postscript workflow I do not see the purpose of the PostScript RIP. The printer driver in combination with the onboard media calibration and a monitor calibration tool should work great for your purpose. I've noticed over the years that the sales reps from HP oversell the customer so that they can cover themselves for any arguments in the future.
