I have the 24" HP 3100Z for several months now, having upgraded from the Epson 4800 and have never found need for the RIP. A great machine purchased without the RIP. Later I was interested in getting a RIP for the purpose of helping me lay out my images before printing, but someone suggested QImage and that has met all my requirements. Harris Harris J.
