In your case, I'm glad you were able to get past your issue (with the assistance of HP replacing the heads). I see you also had an Alps printer. The dye sublimation process was better than ink jet in some ways. I found it was inconsistent. Some images suffered from banding and others didn't. I found that blue skies were pretty bad as far as the banding went. Too bad, it was pretty promising. I had the MD-1300. I understand the MD-5000 (I think that was the model) was better. I ditched it after the consumables became difficult to find. I think I still have some paper and ribbons somewhere (if I could only find them)...
