In the evolution many if not most engineers kept the word plotter for the device. For CAD you can still say plotter, but for photo printers , well they are still a type of plotter but we prefer the term printer. The Z series are printers, although with the HCL PLGu3 option or whatever it's called is actually going to plot the CAD on the same printer.
