Nice is that fax jobs stay in the queue now when hp-sendfax is not running.
Some suggestions:
- If the hpfax backend does not find an already running hp-sendfax, open

The automatic running of hp-sendfax from the backend (via hpssd) ended
up not being possible across the board. Distros that run cups or hpssd
not as root caused problems - I was unable to figure out a way to run
hp-sendfax as the current X11 user when cups or hpssd is not running as
root.
I am going to look at using dbus in the future to accomplish this. I
agree that if the job just dies that can be a problem. My short term
goal was to get faxing to be reliable and then work on some usability
improvements over time.
- If a fax job is in the queue and hp-sendfax is started it can take a
rather long time until a fax in the queue moves into hp-sendfax. Make
the retry interval of the hpfax backend checking the presence of
hp-sendfax shorter (not longer than every 30 sec).
This will be part of the usability improvements that I will work on.
