Exactly.

Even more precise regarding RPM: "package them with a single
RPM spec file as a main package which does not need graphical
stuff and a sub-package which needs the graphical stuff".

By the way:
I also do not care how long it takes to get the above.
If we must wait until version 2.x it is perfectly o.k.
All what really matters is that it is done in a clean way.
