Good feedback. I don't know if we can reproduce your system, but we can make sure 1.6.10 still works on a big-endian system.
I think the problem is still related to the kernel message "did not claim interface". If you see the same message printing and it still prints ok this does not surprise me. Because we do not print over 1284.4/MLC. The print channel uses only "raw" communication which is probably the default USB interface. For 1284.4/MLC, depending on the device, we use the 7/1/3 or 7/1/2 USB interface. Hpiod uses libusb to claim the interface.
