At the moment I am a bit short of time therefore only a brief step by step -- feel free to ask for more details. My AMD 64-bit test machine is "caps". There is Suse Linux 10.1 installed but CUPS is updated with a CUPS 1.2 version and I use hplip from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/jsmeix/unsupported/hplip/10.1/RPMS I am logged in as root and as normal user jsmeix. The date on this machine is terrible wrong. Too long lines are wrapped. I added comments on lines which start with a '#'. I have many other queues, therefore I "grep Officejet_7200_fax". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- caps:~ # date Fri Apr 18 22:25:52 CEST 2003 caps:~ # rpm -q cups cups-1.2.1-3.1 caps:~ # rpm -q hplip hplip-1.6.10-0.1 caps:~ # lpstat -t | grep Officejet_7200_fax device for Officejet_7200_fax: hpfax:/net/Officejet_7200_series?ip=10.10.100.100 Officejet_7200_fax accepting requests since Thu 17 Apr 2003 03:48:31 CEST printer Officejet_7200_fax is idle. enabled since Thu 17 Apr 2003 03:48:31 CEST caps:~ # rm .hplip.conf [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> rm .hplip.conf [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> cat /usr/share/doc/packages/ghostscript/examples/colorcir.ps | lp -d Officejet_7200_fax -t firstfax request id is Officejet_7200_fax-170 (1 file(s)) caps:~ # cat /usr/share/doc/packages/ghostscript/examples/colorcir.ps | lp -d Officejet_7200_fax -t secondfax request id is Officejet_7200_fax-171 (1 file(s)) [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> cat /usr/share/doc/packages/ghostscript/examples/colorcir.ps | lp -d Officejet_7200_fax -t thirdfax request id is Officejet_7200_fax-172 (1 file(s)) caps:~ # lpstat -t | grep Officejet_7200_fax device for Officejet_7200_fax: hpfax:/net/Officejet_7200_series?ip=10.10.100.100 Officejet_7200_fax accepting requests since Fri 18 Apr 2003 22:06:56 CEST printer Officejet_7200_fax now printing Officejet_7200_fax-172. enabled since Fri 18 Apr 2003 22:06:56 CEST Officejet_7200_fax-170 jsmeix 2048 Fri 18 Apr 2003 22:06:56 CEST Officejet_7200_fax-171 root 2048 Fri 18 Apr 2003 22:07:42 CEST Officejet_7200_fax-172 jsmeix 2048 Fri 18 Apr 2003 22:07:51 CEST # Now the jobs stay in the queue until a user starts # the hp-toolbox program and launches the HP faxing GUI. # I start the hp-toolbox and launch the HP faxing GUI # for the user which is not the owner of the first job: caps:~ # hp-toolbox HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 1.6.10) HP Device Manager ver. 6.3 Copyright (c) 2003-6 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
