Hi, I have checked out Hplip 1.7.1 on Ubuntu Feisty Herd 3 Live CD and it works great except one little bug. I am using HP Photosmart 3310 which is connected through a LAN cable with my wireless router. After starting HPLIP the first time it tells me that no HP printers installed and that I could start a wizard which is great since it wasn't so easy without some Howtos or Knowledge to set up a HP Photosmart which is connected through LAN. After choosing Jetdirect the wizard founds my printer and shows him correctly as Photosmart 3300 series but on the screen after this one it uses the ppld file of HP Laserjet 3300 series instead of Photosmart 3300. Since there is no huge list with hp printers I have to choose the correct ppld file which is hard to find for a newbie so it is much easier to choose the correct driver afterwards in the printer settings of the common gui. Instead of version 1.6.9 faxing works fine and make copy isn't greyed out anymore. Great work! If you fix this bug a HP printer is easier to install under Linux then under Windows.
