Hi,

I have installed HPLIP 1.7.3 now and packaged it also for Ubuntu. At
first I can say that the automatic installer works nicely. I have
installed with it on a 64-bit box with Ubuntu Feisty.

I have found the following bugs:

1. On the Print Settings tab of the Toolbox near the top there is an
option "Duplex". This option is not coupled with the "Duplex" option of
the PPD file which you find also on the Print Settings tab. You can set
them to different, contradicting settings.

2. The test page seems always to be printed with the defaults set in the
PPD files and not taking into account the defaults set on the Print
Settings tab of the Toolbox (saved as user defaults in ~/.cups/lpoptions).

3. There should be a possibility to set system-wide defaults for the
printer options (in the PPD file and in /etc/cups/printers.conf). The
Print Settings tab of the Toolbox sets only user defaults (in
~/.cups/lpoptions). I suggest to let hp-setup once have a step for
setting the options and second to allow modifying of already existing
print and fax queues.

    Till
