Hi,

I really appreciate how fast you are responding.

I applied the patch according to your notes, deleted all
previously created printers and used hp-setup <ip-address> to
recreate the devices.

Unfortunately while printing continues to be great, the fax error persists,
both on suse 10 and on my kubuntu 5.10 box.

This is what I get from /var/log/messages, regardless whether
faxing from OOorg or rather directly via hp-sendfax.

Apr 10 20:20:41 grey hpiod: unable to connect to port 9220
JetDirectChannel::Open: Connection refused
hpfax:/net/HP_LaserJet_3390?ip=192.168.1.3
io/hpiod/jetdirect.cpp 124 Apr 10 20:20:42 grey python: sendfax
[ERROR] Unable to open channel (Unknown internal error). Apr 10
20:20:42 grey python: sendfax [ERROR] Fax send error. Apr 10
20:20:44 grey python: sendfax [ERROR] Error, aborting.

If you see possibilities to further investigate this issue, just
let me know and I'll happily do whatever is required.

thank you very much for your great help
regards

Eberhard
