Rod,

Sorry for the confusion.

You can install HPLIP on Suse 10 without libusb-dev, I'm assuming that is so with Suse 9.3 as well. I just did the complete install on Suse 10 without libusb-dev and it works.

The libusb appears to already be installed on Suse.

I have also updated the install instructions.

Please let me know if you have any other issues.

Installation - Step 2 - SUSE states in instruction #11 that libusb-dev should be installed using yast but no SUSE or opensuse installation source that I can find has libusb-dev. Is libusb-dev necessary for installing HPLIP with SUSE Linux? If so where do I get it from?

I have SUSE Linux 9.3 with KDE updated to version 3.5.2 and the following installed:

gcc-c++  3.3.5-5
cups-devel  1.1.23-7
python-devel  2.4-14
python-xml 2.4-14
kdebindings3-python  3.5.2-2
net-snmp-devel  5.2.1-5
openssl  0.9.7e3.2
libjpeg-devel  6.2.0-4
libusb  0.1.8-36

Is this sufficient to go ahead with the installation of HPLIP 0.9.11? Or do I need libusb-dev as well?
